The publishing of Three Secret Poems ("Above a Winter Ray", "On Stage" and "Summer Solstice") were
coincided with the imposition of the dictatorial regime in Greece.
Essentially, they constitute a concise version of the identity of Seferic poetry
and at the same time an account of the life of Seferis through a highly symbolic,
condensed and succinct speech. It is essentially the last poetry collection that
the Nobel laureate poet prints while he is alive and a highly staged farewell
gesture.
