Rare 1930, A. Skondras, Greek Photography Manual, Fokas Pavlatos, Corfu Printing

Extremely rare early Greek photography manual, Η Φωτογραφία Επιστημονικώς (Photography Scientifically) by

Anastasios K. Skondras (Infantry Major), published and printed by Fokas G. Pavlatos in Kerkyra (Corfu), 1930.

This first edition is a richly illustrated and comprehensive guide to the art and science of photography in the early 20th

century — one of the few technical works on the subject published in Greece during that period.

The book is divided into two main parts:

  • Part A: For beginners and amateur photographers

  • Part B: For professionals, military personnel, and scientists

It includes numerous tables, diagrams, sketches, and technical illustrations, covering topics from camera operation and optics to photographic chemistry, development, and light measurement.

A fascinating document bridging art, science, and military application, reflecting the technological curiosity of interwar Greece and the growing democratization of photography.
