Rare, c.1960, Vintage Mycenaean Art Portfolio, 12 Color Plates, Aspioti Elka, Semni Karouzou

A rare and impressive large-format archaeological art portfolio titled “Mycènes – 12 Planches en Couleur: Fresques – Ornements d’Or – Vases”, printed in Greece by Aspioti-Elka circa late 1950s–early 1960s.

This substantial folio contains twelve color lithographic plates reproducing masterpieces of the Mycenaean civilization (c. 1600–1100 BC), including frescoes, gold ornaments, and ceramic works from important archaeological sites such as Mycenae, Tiryns, and Vapheio.

The publication includes an introduction in French by the renowned archaeologist Semni Papaspyridi-Karouzou, a pioneering figure in Greek archaeology and long-time curator at the National Archaeological Museum in Athens.

Originally conceived as a visual presentation of Mycenaean artistic achievement, this portfolio combines scholarly value with strong decorative appeal, as the plates are ideal for framing or display.
