This work belongs to the celebrated series of illustrations created by Tassos for Yannis Ritsos’s landmark poem ‘Epitaphios’. He contributed six woodcut engravings to this powerful literary work, which merges modern Greek poetry with socially engaged visual art.

The son is marked by a subtle halo-like element, a symbolic device used by Tassos to evoke the slain worker Tasos Tousis, transforming him into a timeless, almost sacred figure.
