An uncommon and highly collectible first edition of “Ήθη, Έθιμα και Παραδόσεις της Αθαμανίας 1900–1925” (Customs, Traditions and Folklore of Athamania, 1900–1925) by Leonidas K. Makris.
Published privately in Trikala in 1956, this work is one of the earliest and most important ethnographic records of the remote mountain communities of the Aspropotamos region in the southern Pindus Mountains of Greece. The book was later reprinted in 1990, making the original 1956 edition considerably scarcer.

About the Author
Leonidas K. Makris was a physician, writer, and folklorist from the Trikala region of Thessaly. He devoted much of his life to preserving the traditions, language, customs, songs, and everyday life of the mountain communities of Aspropotamos before modernization transformed the area. His work is considered an important contribution to Greek folklore studies and regional history.
About Athamania
Athamania is a historic mountain village in the Aspropotamos district of the southern Pindus range, near the borders of Thessaly and Epirus. During the early twentieth century the area remained relatively isolated, preserving traditional pastoral life, folk customs, local dialects, music, festivals, and social structures that had existed for generations.
