A scarce and highly important complete bound run of the influential Cretan literary and folklore magazine Δρήρος (Driros), comprising the first 36 issues published between June 1937 and June 1940.
Published in Neapolis, Crete, under the direction of Manolis I. Pitykakis (1913–1991) — prominent lawyer, writer, folklorist, and later Academy of Athens award recipient — Driros stands as one of the significant intellectual and cultural periodicals of pre-war Crete.
Dedicated to the preservation and study of Cretan folklore, literature, language, history, and regional identity, the magazine became an important forum for the intellectual life of the island during the late 1930s.
The publication hosted contributions by notable literary figures including Aris Diktaios and Sofia Mavroidi-Papadaki, while Pitykakis himself used the magazine as a vehicle for documenting and preserving the traditions, linguistic heritage, and cultural memory of Crete.
The title Driros was inspired by the ancient city of Dreros near Neapolis.

Historical Importance
The magazine ceased publication during the Axis Occupation of Greece, although special editions appeared later, including the important 1947 publication Storm in Crete, among the earliest historical accounts of the Battle of Crete and the Greek Resistance.
Manolis Pitykakis later continued his scholarly and folkloric work through monumental publications such as The Linguistic Idiom of Eastern Crete, a two-volume dictionary awarded by the Academy of Athens.
