Rare Swedish royal portrait of Crown Prince Gustaf Adolf, later King Gustaf VI Adolf, with handwritten autograph and Studio Jæger attribution.
A striking vintage photographic portrait of Gustaf Adolf of Sweden (1882–1973), later King Gustaf VI Adolf, photographed during his years as Crown Prince.
The portrait is attributed to Johannes Jaeger / Studio Jæger of Stockholm, a prestigious photographic studio associated with Swedish royal portraiture.
The Crown Prince is depicted in an impressive formal military uniform, wearing a sash together with an extensive selection of royal and military decorations and medals. The formal composition and elaborate uniform give the photograph a particularly distinguished appearance.
Of special interest to collectors, a handwritten ink autograph attributed to Gustaf Adolf is visible on the lower right portion of the photograph. The Studio Jæger photographer’s mark/signature is also visible in the lower left area of the photographic image.
