On June 1, 1926, Nikos Panagopoulos founded a small soft drink industry in Marousi, Attica, which he named IVI because he wanted a name that reminded him of the Goddess of Youth, Hebe – Ivi – Ήβη in Greek, who refreshed the Gods of Olympus with nectar. The industry produced carbonated or non-carbonated orangeade and carbonated lemonade. On April 18, 1960, he bought the Karantani water factory in Loutraki, Corinthia, and on March 28, 1973, he became the exclusive representative in Greece of the American soft drink industry PepsiCo, and Pepsi Cola soft drink made its appearance on the Greek market for the first time.
