Georgios Kiosses (Sachinis) (1789-1864) was a ship owner, fighter of 1821 and one of the most skilled Vice Admiral of the time. He was in Sicily when the revolution broke out. He immediately returned and joined the naval fleet of Hydra, with the ship of Miltiades with which he took part in over twenty naval battles under Admiral Andreas Miaoulis. In 1823 he became commander of Syros and Mykonos. With the arrival of Kapodistrias in 1828, he became the commander of the national corvette Hydra with which he was entrusted with the blockade of the Maliak Gulf. Later he opposed the Governor after whose assassination, in 1832 he assumed the proxy of Hydra. In 1836 he assumed command of the Aegean naval squadron. Then, because of his language skills, he served as an assistant to King Otho throughout his reign, except for an intervening period of one year when he was director of the Naval Directorate of Poros. In 1844 he was promoted to rear admiral while in the revolution of 1862 he defended the palaces.
