A rare and historically engaging lot relating to the distinguished Greek composer and academic Menelaos Pallantios, comprising:
3 original large-format vintage black-and-white photographs (approx. 18 cm × 24 cm each)
1 handwritten signed note on card (approx. 7 cm × 11 cm)
Original envelope addressed by Pallantios
The photographs, dated 1965 (copyright stamp on reverse: Πρακτορείον Ηνωμένων Φωτορεπόρτερ/United Press-Photographers, Athens), depict Pallantios alongside the young royal couple Constantine II of Greece and Anne-Marie of Denmark, likely in connection with a performance or official appearance at the Greek National Opera (Lyriki Skini) during Pallantios’ tenure as director.
The accompanying handwritten note, signed by Pallantios, is addressed to poet and artist Danae Stellaki, congratulating her on her work. The envelope, also handwritten by Pallantios, shows water wear; the address remains legible. Both correspondents were residents of Palaio Faliro, adding a personal dimension to the material.
