A Timeless Portrait of the Ionian Islands

An authentic original Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO / EOT) promotional poster celebrating the timeless beauty of Cephalonia (Kefalonia), the largest of Greece’s Ionian Islands.

Issued in December 1992 as part of the Greek National Tourism Organization’s official international advertising campaign, this striking vintage poster showcases the picturesque harbour of Fiskardo, one of the island’s most charming and historically significant villages.

Bathed in brilliant Mediterranean light, the photograph captures colourful Venetian houses reflected in the calm waters of the harbour, traditional fishing boats gently moored along the waterfront, and the unmistakable atmosphere that has made Fiskardo one of Greece’s most beloved seaside destinations.

This is an original government-issued poster, printed in Greece, and not a modern reproduction.

Fiskardo – The Jewel of Cephalonia

Situated on the northern tip of Cephalonia, Fiskardo occupies a unique place in the island’s history.

Unlike most of Cephalonia, which suffered widespread devastation during the catastrophic 1953 Ionian earthquakes, Fiskardo survived largely intact. As a result, it preserves one of the finest collections of traditional Venetian and Ionian architecture in Greece.

Today, the village is celebrated for its elegant waterfront, colourful neoclassical buildings, cosmopolitan marina, and relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere, attracting visitors from around the world while retaining its authentic island character.

The image featured in this poster beautifully captures that enduring charm.
