Historical Background
Ambetios School (founded 1855)
One of the oldest Greek schools in Cairo, created through a major donation by the Ambet brothers. Since its inauguration in 1861, it became one of the key cultural and educational centers of the Greek community in Egypt.
Cairo Greek Community Schools (Achillopouleios School)
Established through the Greek Orthodox Community of Cairo and significantly supported by benefactor Evangelos Achillopoulos. Through decades of development, expansions, and contributions from the Egyptian Greek community, these schools became major institutions safeguarding Greek language, culture, and identity in Egypt.
By the mid-20th century, both schools stood as leading centers of Greek education for the diaspora.
