Description
A rare and highly collectible 2nd and final edition of Οδύσσεια (Odyssey) by Nikos Kazantzakis, one of the greatest figures of modern Greek literature.
Published in 1957, this important edition was edited by Emmanuil Ch. Kasdaglis and features a dust jacket and cover design by the noted Greek artist Giorgis Varlamos.
Kazantzakis’ Odyssey is a monumental philosophical epic that continues Homer’s tale of Odysseus, expanding it into twenty-four rhapsodies and 33,333 seventeen-syllable verses. Written over thirteen years and revised through seven drafts, this work represents the culmination of Kazantzakis’ poetic and intellectual vision.
This 1957 printing is regarded as the definitive version, containing the author’s final corrections and revisions — making it effectively a “first edition” of the final text.
