This is a rare first edition of Traverso, the final poetic work by Nikos Kavvadias (1910–1975), one of Greece’s most iconic modern poets. Published shortly before his death, Traverso captures Kavvadias’s hallmark themes: the sea, exile, longing, and freedom, rendered in rich, symbolic language.

A sailor by profession, Kavvadias traveled extensively, transforming his life aboard ships into deeply lyrical, dreamlike poetry. His work is often associated with symbolism and the tradition of the poète maudit, placing him among the most beloved literary figures in modern Greek literature.

The frontispiece and cover design are by Yannis Moralis (1916–2009), one of Greece’s most important modern painters, whose collaboration here adds significant artistic and collectible value to this edition.
