Yiannis Karavidas (1934 – 2019) was a Greek writer and teacher. His first poems were published in his high school years. In 1965 he officially appears in letters with his poetry collection Sparks in marble, to be followed by many others until his death. He also wrote various studies, articles and critical notes in newspapers and magazines. His poems were translated into Italian, French, Polish and Hungarian. He was President of the Society of Greek Writers and received many other distinctions. He served in primary schools in Macedonia, Epirus and Attica.
