Rare signed first edition of Αιολική Άρπα (Aeolian Harp) by the distinguished Greek poet Sotiris Skipis (1881–1952), published in Athens in 1922 by I. N. Sideris. The book is a collection of poems and features a prologue by French Nobel Laureate Anatole France.
This collectible copy bears a handwritten inscription and signature by the author, significantly enhancing its literary and historical value.
Skipis was one of the notable representatives of the New Athenian School, recognized for his lyrical and dramatic poetry. Active in the literary circles of early 20th-century Greece, he contributed extensively to literary journals and edited the magazine Akritas. In 1946, he was elected to the Academy of Athens in a highly debated selection over major literary figures including Nikos Kazantzakis and Angelos Sikelianos.
His international reputation was also significant: France honored him with the Legion of Honor and recognition from the French Academy for works written in French.
Αιολική Άρπα belongs to the mature phase of Skipis’ poetic production and reflects the musicality and symbolism characteristic of Greek interwar poetry.
