This striking poster was produced by EOT for the French market as part of a broader tourism campaign during the 

1970s. The design features:

  • mosaic of Thessaloniki’s iconic White Tower

  • Byzantine peacock, symbol of immortality, resurrection, paradise, and divine watchfulness

These motifs celebrate the city’s rich Byzantine heritage, home to 15 UNESCO monuments and countless artefacts.

The Dimitria Festival, revived in 1966 by EOT, is one of Thessaloniki’s most important cultural institutions, named after Saint Demetrius, the city’s patron saint. In 1971, it included concerts, theatre, dance performances, and art exhibitions.
