Paul Facchetti (1912 – 2010) was on the one hand a well-known French photographer and on the other hand an art dealer in Paris who, since 1951, has offered numerous young artists a platform for their works of art. As a photographer, he became well known for his preferred subjective photography and portraits of writers and artists he met. His first exhibitions in 1951 and 1952 attracted international attention. He was the first gallery in Europe to show works by Jackson Pollock and became known for discovering and promoting many painters of lyrical abstraction, informal art, tachism and abstract expressionism.
