About the author
Apostolos Mammelis was born in Sigi (Prusa) and raised in Constantinople. After studies in Germany, he settled in Athens following the Asia Minor Catastrophe. Blind from 1914, he developed a distinctive poetic voice and participated in literary circles of the period.

He maintained connections with figures such as Kostis Palamas and belongs to a transitional generation between late 19th-century poetic tradition and early modern Greek literary movements.

The inscription to Alexandros Xanthopoulos—also originating from Sigi and later a political figure—adds a notable historical dimension, linking the books to the Asia Minor diaspora and interwar Greek political life.
