Georgios Lydakis (1903 – 1969) was a Greek painter and engraver. He studied commerce in Marseilles and later settled in Germany, where he took up painting alongside his livelihood. From there he went to Trieste and finally returned to Heraklion, Crete, where he turned exclusively to painting (1926). He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, while simultaneously working as a cartoonist at the Eleftheroudakis Dictionary (1928-30). In the period 1930-47 he was director of the artistic department of the Athenian newspaper Eleftheron Vima. In 1947 he went to the USA, where he hoped to exploit an invention of his to develop architectural plans on scale models. His paintings show an interest in both expressionism and abstract recreations of reality.
