A  journey is a complex, multifaceted event. You start motivated either by curiosity or daydreams and you go to see, get to know, study, research, verify. Sometimes you go to rest and sometimes just to live, escaping from the suffocating rope that the daily life of our time has tied around you. […] The trip took place thanks to the literary award established by the kind and enthusiastic publisher Georgios Fexis, honoring the memory of his father Philippos Fexis, and with the special purpose of making an educational trip. The Group of Twelve honored me by awarding me this prize for the year 1963.
