Nikiforos Vrettakos (1912 – 1991) was a Greek poet, prose writer, translator, essayist and academic. He is considered one of the greatest Greek poets. He was nominated 4 times for the Nobel Prize in Literature, while he also received many other awards, such as the Ourani prize, the First State Poetry Prize, etc.
