Dimitrios Kallonas (1907–1965) was a Greek journalist and art critic. He was a war correspondent and closely followed the Spanish Civil War, while among other things he was a member of the journalistic mission that followed the visit of King Paul to India and Thailand. He then began to deal with the visual arts by publishing reviews, while he also had a collection of paintings and studied music and art.

About the book: Kallonas’ book is a literary narrative that focuses on the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), presenting the author’s experiences and impressions of war-torn Spain. The title of the book, “Viva la Muerte!” (Long Live Death!), is a slogan used during the Spanish Civil War, particularly by Franco’s forces.
