“The Mask” was a Greek magazine, which was published in four periods. It mainly published translated American detective stories, but also works by British and French authors. Its publisher and director was initially Apostolos Magganaris, while later both the writer Jimmy Korinis and the publisher Spyros Daremas dealt with the title.
“The Mask” was first published in the pre-war period 1935 – 1939, based on the corresponding American publication “Black Mask” of 1920. Its second period of publication took place in the years 1946 – 1949 and the third in the period 1955 – 1958. In 1963 its rights were acquired to Spyros Daremas who assigned its management to Jimmy Korinis for 11 consecutive years, until the end of circulation of the publication, in 1974. An attempt to revive it much later (1998) again by Korinis, was not crowned with success.
