First edition (1960) of “Κοκκινιά: Ένα Όνομα, Μια Πολιτεία” (Kokkinia: One Name, One City) by Dimitris Liatsos.

A significant historical and literary work documenting the origins and development of Kokkinia (Nikaia), one of Greece’s most important refugee communities. The book combines historical research with personal insight, capturing the social struggles, resistance, and identity of the area.

The cover and interior vignettes are by Michalis Nikolinakos (1923 − 1994), adding artistic and collectible interest to the volume.

About the Author

Dimitris Liatsos (1926-2015) was a writer, journalist, and historian born in Kokkinia to refugee parents from Eastern Thrace. A member of the resistance during the German occupation, he later documented the struggles and history of his community. His work reflects themes of social justice, memory, and the experiences of working-class and refugee populations in Greece.
