About the Author
Nikiforos Vrettakos (1912–1991) was one of Greece’s most important poets, often called the Poet of Love and Peace.
He received numerous literary awards, including the Greek State Poetry Prize (twice), and was elected to the Academy of Athens in 1987.
His works have been translated into many languages, and several poems were set to music by Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis.
