Aria Komianou (1938 – 2015) was a Greek artist from Corfu. She belonged to the generation in which engraving in Greece opened up in new aesthetic directions. From 1958 to 1960 she studied at the art workshop of Panos Sarafianos. She studied printmaking at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1960-1969), and graduated with honors in Woodcut, Lithography, Etching. She also received a diploma in Theoretical and Historical Studies as well as Book and Typography Art. Her teacher was the engraver Kostas Grammatopoulos. Her first solo exhibition took place in 1966 at the Astor Gallery. Since then she has presented her work in thematic solo exhibitions in Greece and abroad, but also by participating in many international exhibitions and important tributes to the art of engraving. She taught engraving and graphic arts in public and private education. She was an active member of the Greek Chamber of Visual Arts, whose sign she engraved, a founding member of the Greek Engravers’ Union, a member of the Art Addiction group of Sweden, the Association of Greek Women Artists, the Kiwa-Kyoto Engravers group of Japan. She was repeatedly distinguished and awarded in international presentations, while her works can be found in art galleries and museums in Greece and other countries.

Yiannis D. Stefanakis (1951 -) is a Greek artist from Heraklion, Crete. He studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts Painting, Engraving, Hagiography as well as Art of the book and typography. In 1980, together with the poet Michalis Katsaros, he publishes the poetry newspaper Epipedo. Since 1989, he has published the magazine for speech and visual arts Neo Epipedo, and since 2003 the collector’s magazine Technopaignion. Stefanakis has organized printmaking seminars and collaborated with publishing houses and literary magazines. He has done sets in the theater and teaches drawing and engraving. His works can be found in Museums, Galleries, the Ministry of the Interior as well as in important private collections in Greece and abroad.
