Evangelos Averoff-Tossizza(s) (Greek: Ευάγγελος Αβέρωφ Τοσίτσας, 1910 – 1990) was a Greek politician, leader of the New Democracy party (1981–1984), member of parliament, and author.

The Greek Civil War (1946–1949) was a conflict in Greece that erupted after World War II, marking one of the first major confrontations of the Cold War era. It was fought between the Greek government forces, supported by the United Kingdom and the United States, and the Democratic Army of Greece (DSE), the military branch of the Greek Communist Party (KKE), which was backed by Yugoslavia, Albania, and Bulgaria. The war had profound social, political, and economic consequences for Greece.
