Sokratis Karantinos (1906 – 1979) was a Greek theater director, theater critic, drama school professor and actor. At the same time, he was also involved in painting. He developed a rich and varied activity in Greek theater events since the interwar years, but his main directing activity took place during the post-war period. He directed a large number of performances both in the independent theater and on state stages in Greece, Cyprus and France. He was associated with the foundation and the first years of operation of the State Theater of Northern Greece, of which he was the first artistic director (1961–1967).
