Lion Feuchtwanger (1884  – 1958) was a German Jewish novelist and playwright. A prominent figure in the literary world of Weimar Germany, he influenced contemporaries including playwright Bertolt Brecht.

Der Jüdische Krieg  is a historical novel, was published in 1932 and is the first part of the Josephus trilogy, which tells the life of the Jewish historian Flavius Josephus.
