Haus der Kunst (House of Art) is a museum for modern and contemporary art in Munich, Bavaria. It is located at Prinzregentenstraße 1 at the southern edge of the English Garden, Munich’s largest park.
Henry Ehlers (1897 -1988) was a German graphic artist who lived and worked in Munich. Ehlers created advertising posters for a number of companies such as BMW, Erdinger Weißbier and the men’s fashion house Hansen & Co in Cologne. His graphic style is unique in German-speaking countries: his shapes are structured strictly geometrically, influenced by Art Deco. These strict compositions are combined with sometimes absurd, almost Dadaist advertising messages. His advertising graphics are treated as works of art. One of his posters is part of the permanent exhibition at MoMA New York.
