Law 4204/1929 ratified the Legislative Decree of 9/16 November 1925, which regulated the adjudication of small claims. The purpose of this legislation was to simplify and accelerate the process of resolving civil and commercial disputes of small value, so that the courts would not be burdened with time-consuming procedures.
Its provisions concerned:
The creation of simplified procedures for the adjudication of disputes of low economic value.
The possibility of adjudicating these disputes by special courts or justices of the peace, with limited formalities.
The provision of rapid adjudication and limited possibilities of appeal, so as to avoid delays.
The reduction of legal costs for the parties, so that justice would be more accessible.
