About the Author

Panos Th. Anagnostopoulos (1883–1964) was born in Gargalianoi, Messinia, and studied Agriculture at the University of Wisconsin. He served as:

  • Professor at the Averofion School of Larissa

  • Director of the Athens Arboricultural Station

  • Professor of Arboriculture, Horticulture, and Floriculture at the Athens Agricultural University (1922–1954)

  • Rector of the University (1946–47, 1952–53)

His contribution to modern Greek agricultural science—particularly in the systematic study of olive cultivation—was decisive.
