About the Work:
This rare and substantial publication was issued by the Army General Staff of the Ministry of Military Affairs in Athens. It is part of the official multi-volume war report documenting the campaigns and operations of the Greek Army during the Balkan Wars (1912–1913). This particular volume, Volume B, Appendix, offers extensive supplementary material, including detailed accounts, military correspondence, statistics, and operational reports.
The War Report remains one of the most authoritative primary sources for the study of Greece’s military involvement in the Balkan Wars and is an essential reference for historians, researchers, and collectors of military history.
Historical Context – The Balkan Wars (1912–1913):
The Balkan Wars reshaped the political and military map of Southeastern Europe. In the First Balkan War (1912–1913), Greece, Serbia, Montenegro, and Bulgaria allied against the Ottoman Empire, expelling it from most of its European territories. In the Second Balkan War (1913), Bulgaria turned against its former allies but was decisively defeated.
The wars not only doubled Greece’s territory and population, including the annexation of Thessaloniki, Epirus, and Crete, but also set the stage for the tensions that would lead to the First World War.
A rare and highly important official publication documenting one of the most pivotal moments in modern Greek and Balkan history.
