About the Book:
This is the first printed edition (1779) of “Εἴσοδος φυσικῆς ἀκροάσεως” (Introduction to Natural Philosophy) by the eminent Greek philosopher Theophilos Corydalleus.
The work presents an Aristotelian approach to natural philosophy, adapted for Greek-speaking scholars. It was edited under the supervision of Archimandrite Kyprianos Kyprios, printed by the renowned Greek publisher Nikolaos Glykys in Venice, and licensed “con licenza superiore”.
The book aimed to introduce Greek students to Aristotle’s study of nature (Physics) while reconciling classical philosophy with Orthodox Christian theology. It was widely used in Greek educational institutions of the 17th and 18th centuries and is a cornerstone text of Neo-Aristotelian philosophy in the Greek world.
