Efthymios “Makis” Warlamis (1942–2016) was a multifaceted Greek-Austrian artist renowned for his contributions to architecture, painting, sculpture, design, literature, and education. Born in Veria, Greece, he pursued his studies at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, where he later served as a professor of architecture from 1974 to 1981 . He was instrumental in establishing the Kunstmuseum Waldviertel in 2009, a museum dedicated to contemporary art and design.
Warlamis’s artistic philosophy centered on the belief that art should permeate all aspects of life, fostering communication and understanding across cultures and generations. His work often reflected deep spirituality and a commitment to community engagement. He was particularly passionate about supporting children and young people through art.
His extensive exhibition on Alexander the Great, with 1,700 paintings, sculptures, constructions and models, was first presented in Thessaloniki in 1997, as part of the European Capital of Culture, and then toured a number of countries, such as Austria, Switzerland, Cyprus, Jordan, Egypt and Australia.
AP (Artist’s Proof) or EA (Épreuve d’Artiste in French) refers to a limited number of prints set aside from the main edition, usually for the artist’s personal use. They are identical in quality to the regular edition but rarer and often more valued by collectors due to their limited number and closer connection to the artist.
