About the book:
This Guide is one of the most comprehensive guidebooks about Istanbul written during the Republic period.
The well known  byzantologist and Swiss researcher Ernest Mamboury (1878-1953)  taught at Galatasaray High School for 27 years. He took leave from the school he was working in 1909 to study for the research he was always curious about. Mambury settled in Istanbul and lived there until his death.
The guide was first published in French under the name Istanbul Touristique in 1925 for foreigners and french speakers living in Istanbul in the first half of the 20th century. It is very informative about the Byzantine ruins in Istanbul, providing solid information since the author meticulously documented the Byzantine ruins in Istanbul and even made a map of the walls.
Extremely Rare!
