The Greco-Turkish War of 1919–1922 was fought between Greece and the Turkish National Movement during the partitioning of the Ottoman Empire in the aftermath of World War I, between 15 May 1919 and 14 October 1922.

About the book: This publication is one of the most comprehensive visual and textual records of the Greek refugee resettlement of the 1920s.  It documents the massive refugee influx to Greece, primarily ethnic Greeks fleeing Asia Minor, Pontus, and Eastern Thrace. It describes how over 1.2 million refugees were resettled in Greece, a monumental challenge for a relatively small and economically strained country at the time. The League of Nations played a major role through its Refugee Settlement Commission (RSC), which coordinated international aid and helped with the land distribution, construction of housing, and provision of agricultural and economic support to help integrate these populations. The book includes detailed narratives, reports, and statistics about the refugee crisis as well as photographs and illustrations showing camps, housing, infrastructure, and living conditions. The two maps show refugee distribution and the ethnographic composition of Macedonia, which was significantly altered by the refugee influx. It additionally offers insights into the political, social, and economic impact of the population movements on Greece.
