Historical Context

The Cities Police (Αστυνομία Πόλεων) was founded in 1920 and served as the urban police force of major Greek cities including Athens, Piraeus, Patras, and Corfu.
In 1984, it merged with the Greek Gendarmerie (Χωροφυλακή) to form the modern Hellenic Police (Ελληνική Αστυνομία).

This publication stands as an official commemorative record of the force’s fallen members and represents a poignant chapter in the history of Greek law enforcement — from the interwar years to the post–Civil War and junta eras.
