About the book: This is a scarce original edition of a historical novel written by Kimon Attikos, the pseudonym of Ioannis Skouteropoulos, a Greek publisher, author and journalist active during the interwar period. This dramatic novel blends historical fictionreligious sentiment, and national identity in the wake of the Asia Minor Catastrophe of 1922. It offers a vivid portrayal of the fall of Smyrna (Izmir) and explores the tragic events through the symbolic figure of Latife Hanim, historically known as the wife of Kemal Ataturk. The book reflects the national trauma and ideological climate of the time, expressing a deeply Greek Orthodox and patriotic perspective on the destruction of one of Hellenism’s historic centers in Asia Minor. The work additionally features original photos of the Greek campaign in Asia Minor. It’s is a rare and highly collectible item, ideal for collectors of historical books related to Asia Minor Hellenism, the Greco-Turkish War, or early 20th-century Greek literature.

The Greco-Turkish War of 1919–1922 was fought between Greece and the Turkish National Movement during the partitioning of the Ottoman Empire in the aftermath of World War I, between 15 May 1919 and 14 October 1922.
