Lakhan Lal Mehrotra (Ramnagar, 1934) is an Indian politician and writer.He joined the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1958. He was posted in several major centers of international developments such as the capitals of China, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, Yugoslavia and Sri Lanka. From October 25, 1999 to May 20, 2002, he was director of the United Nations Transitional Administration in East Timor in Jakarta. He is the author of more than 30 works.
