About the Author:
Epaminondas Kavvadias (1886–1965) was a distinguished Greek admiral and naval commander. He served three times as Chief of the Navy General Staff and led the Greek fleet during the early years of World War II, including the Greco-Italian War of 1940–41. After the German invasion, he guided the Greek fleet to safety in the Middle East, where it continued to fight alongside the Allies. His long career also included service as Vice Minister for Naval Affairs in the government-in-exile and later as naval attaché in London.
