Manuelle Roche (1931-2010) studied at the Toulouse School of Fine Arts. Of Greek origin on her mother’s side, she moved to Greece at the age of 22. There she met the architect André Ravereau, whose interpreter she became before marrying him. Together they lived for many years in Algeria, from where they brought back important work on traditional architecture, particularly Mozabite. After her separation from André Ravereau she continued working as a photographer and participated in numerous publications illustrated by her work. She made several films, and wrote memories of her visited regions and also wrote novels. Sismos is one of them.
